NERD: Find Your Path to Reality
Nerd is a conceptual animation about realizing what we truly are. It tells the story of Gus, a kid following his path to understanding reality through science. In his journey, he has to leave his demons behind to find the truth: we are all part of the same thing, and the fact that you are you and I am me is just random.

You've seen this animation in just 3 minutes as a video, but in fact, it's composed of 2213 paintings. Let me explain: each second is composed of 12 artworks painted individually digitally but your brain generates the illusion of movement. Every brushstroke you'll see in this animation has been handmade.
3 Years.
The need to create Nerd came to me at the beginning of January 2021 during the pandemic. I was a different person at that point and I feel that this animation evolved with me, technically and conceptually. I completed this work at the end of February 2024 and has been a long journey since this project started.
1 Story.
I created this story by combining some of the things I like: philosophy, physics, and astronomical theories, with things I've experienced in my life, metaphorically. Creating it also worked as a catharsis to me. But what does Nerd mean to you? Let me know!

I am Gus Menese, a digital artist, graphic designer, and animator from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I started my journey as an artist when I was a kid playing Mario Paint, which allowed me to make animations of just 9 frames. It was very simple but I loved it. Since then, I never stopped creating paintings and animations. I also like reading and playing chess, and as you´ve imagined, I am a Nerd as well.
